In the heart of every Rohingya family is a dream a dream to live in safety, dignity, and hope for a better tomorrow. But one harmful practice still holds our girls back: child marriage.
What Is Child Marriage?
Child marriage means a girl is married before the age of 18. It often happens because of poverty, fear, or tradition. But marrying young doesn’t protect our daughters — it puts their future in danger.
Why It’s Harmful
When a young girl is married, her life changes overnight. She leaves school. She becomes a wife and soon a mother — when she is still a child herself. This leads to:
Dangerous early pregnancies
Serious health problems
Emotional stress and sadness
No chance to continue her education
Many girls suffer silently, losing the freedom to make choices for themselves.
Our Girls Deserve Better
Every Rohingya girl has the right to learn, to grow, and to dream. When we keep our daughters in school, we give them power — the power to change their own future and to help lift our community.
How Can We Stop Child Marriage?
Talk to each other – Let’s start open conversations in our families and camps.
Support education – Help girls stay in school.
Create safe spaces – Encourage girls to learn, play, and share their voices.
Raise awareness – Speak out. One voice can lead to many.
A Message to Fathers, Mothers, and Leaders:
You have the power to protect your daughters. Let them grow up safe, strong, and educated. Say no to child marriage say yes to their future.
